The Taunton Academy has announced the popular community music event, Life Music Festival, will be returning to the school on Saturday 22 June with a fresh line up of national and local stars.
Following on from the success of last year, local bands and students from The Taunton Academy, Castle School and Uffculme School will take to the stage demonstrating the wealth of local talent while X Factor runner up star Andy Abraham will headline the event.
Mark Trusson, Principal of The Taunton Academy stated: “The festival is a superb community event which really pulls together families from across the area. We have chosen a mix of musical styles to ensure we have something for everyone and the addition of a bouncy castle and market stalls adds another entertainment element for the whole family to enjoy.”
Headline act, Andy Abraham, was the X Factor runner up in 2005 and has also represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008. He will be supported by up-and-coming star Jamie Lawson who recently enjoyed a number one hit in Ireland and a number 17 hit on the UK singer-songwriter chart at the end of April. Other stars include returning artist Hattie Keane who wowed crowds last year with her stunning vocals and local groups Graffiti and Got Legs as well as popular tribute bands Antarctic Monkeys and Oasis Forever.
The festival has been organised with the support from Tone Leisure which operates the neighbouring Wellsprings Leisure Centre. All proceeds will be donated to local charity Stand Against Violence.
Gates will open at 12 noon and music will go on until 10pm. Tickets are priced at £6 for an adult, £4 for children and £15 for a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children; or 1 adult and 3 children).
