Donating our woollies for charity

The Oxygen Agency is arranging a collection for Refugee Aid (RAFT) in Taunton, by calling on local businesses to donate gloves and socks for refugees this winter.

Oxygen Publicity Director, Katie Sanders, said: “We understand that hundreds of people in refugee camps across Europe are in much need of gloves and socks. We decided to donate some items ourselves and thought we could spread the net wider. We’d love for local businesses to join us. If we all donate just a few pairs it can really make a difference to people’s lives and health, especially the dozens of unaccompanied children who could suffer without help. We would love to be able to donate as many gloves and socks as we can, so any donations are greatly appreciated.”

RAFT sends aid to refugees and displaced people across the globe, including food, toiletries and clothes. As the colder weather draws in, the charity is in continuous need of good quality, warm clothing.

Businesses that want to donate can drop off socks (new) or gloves (can be second hand but good condition) before 14 December to Oxygen’s office at 3 Cedar Court, Tiverton Business Park, EX16 6GT (next to McDonald’s) – or email sophie@oxygenagency.co.uk to arrange.

For non-business donations please contact RAFT direct – see their website at www.refugeeaidfromtaunton.org.uk.
