In the world of copywriting it’s common to see copywriters become niche in certain markets. At the Oxygen copywriting agency in Devon we’re anything but – and have written for most industries at some time or another.
However, automotive is a sector that seems to follow us around. Managing direct Steve Lodge has had much experience as an automotive copywriter for marques including Vauxhall, Renault and Mercedes Benz (owner’s club and trucks) while working as a copywriter at other agencies.
From 2003 to 2008 Oxygen worked extensively on automotive copywriting projects for three leading brands.
• We created dealership communications for Honda, including motivational newsletters, website copy and customer-facing point of sale materials and literature.
• We wrote materials for Bentley dealerships.
• We have written newsletters for Chrysler Jeep (and formerly Daimler Chrysler) as well as ad-hoc copy for events and awards ceremonies. This included all the copy for a staff engagement programme.
From 2008 to 2010 we were appointed to work with two design agencies in South Korea, writing copy for English-language brochures for Kia Motors. This included the first brochures for a number of new cars, with out copy developed from the planning and research notes delivered to us direct from the research and development teams. Cars included the c’eed, Soul, Optima, Sportage and several others including trucks.
So you could say we know our way from A pillar to B pillar; how to motivate dealer staff to engage customers and sell vehicle benefits; and pushes a car buyer’s start button. Currently we’re working with a company that supplies their product to 80% of the world’s cars – but no automotive marque.
